The Cro-Mags are considered to be the very first crossover thrash band, blending the styles of thrash metal and hardcore punk rock. Because of their brutal, in-your-face style, the Cro-Mags are often associated with the boom of a tougher attitude that permeated the hardcore scene in the late 80s. The Cro-Mags have gone through numerous lineup changes, and in 2018, no constant members remain. The Cro-Mags may not have ever found much commercial fame, but their cult following and a genre of their creation is as big an indicator of success as anything else.
