Coming from Sayreville, New Jersey and named after their lead singer, Bon Jovi is one of the most successful rock bands of the 80s. After barely cracking the Top 40 with their first two albums, the group exploded into popularity in 1986 with Slippery When Wet, a record that sold over 20 million copies and produced three Top 10 singles, including “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer,” which both reached No. 1. Their follow-up was 1988’s New Jersey, which produced a record 5 Top 10 singles. The band continued to achieve wild mainstream success, including a multitude of platinum and double-platinum selling albums and a Grammy award in 2007. After transitioning away from the hair metal-influences that their records in the 80s and early 90s had, Bon Jovi has slowly incorporated more and more country elements, becoming the first rock band to get a No. 1 single on the country music charts.
