When Joel Zimmerman was in his early teens, his computer fell on the floor and stopped working. It smelled like burning wire and had a weird odor. He took the computer apart found a dead mouse. His friends started calling him the "dead mouse guy." He shortened it to "deadmau5," which is pronounced "deadmouse." Zimmerman is considered a master of the progressive house genre and other forms of electronica. His debut album, Get Scraped, was released in 2005, followed by others such as Random Album Title and Album Title Goes Here. Zimmerman has received six Grammy Award nominations for his work.
