Formed in the mid-70s by vocalist Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, Blondie was one of the pioneers of the new wave/early punk rock movement on the mid to late 70s and early 80s. The band found success in the United Kingdom and Australia, but could not break through in the US. That all changed in 1978 with the release of Parallel Lines and the sustained success of singles over the next few years, including “Heart of Glass” and “Call Me.” Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, Blondie is one of the most successful bands to incorporate a multitude of different genres in their music. The group continues to be active today, with their most recent album, Pollinator coming out in 2017.
