Founded in the mid-70s by Debbie Harry (who looks great in a rock t-shirt) and Chris Stein, Blondie was an important American new wave band. They also were known for incorporating a strong disco influence in many of their songs. Their sound was popular with followers of the punk rock scene and they played often at Max's Kansas City and CBGB and other self-consciously hip NYC clubs. They had an engaging style that drew from several musical genres and sub-genres, such as pop punk, hip hop, rap, and reggae. They emerged from the underground to chart with "Heart of Glass," a hit single worldwide.Their run lasted—off and on—for the better part of 30 years. Blondie sold over 40 million records and is still making records and touring occasionally today. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
