Described as “folk music in overdrive,” Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Celtic punk band from Los Angeles, California. Formed by Irish-born vocalist Dave King, Flogging Molly is the West Coast’s answer to New England’s Dropkick Murphys. The band has remained independent their entire career, releasing six studio albums and one live album. Perhaps the most impressive feat is the Salty Dog Cruise, a yearly Caribbean cruise put on by the band featuring numerous punk rock artists. Overall, Flogging Molly is fast-paced hardcore infused with traditional Irish roots, often cited as a tribute to both King’s origins and the late Clash vocalist, Joe Strummer.
