Of the “Big Four”  Thrash Metal, Slayer is considered the fastest, known for their blistering speed. Along with Anthrax, they are less popular than Metallica and Megadeth. Metallica easily is the most well regarded of the four while Megadeth, thanks to the artistry of guitarist Dave Mustaine, comes closest to Metallica in name recognition. Slayer’s "Reign in Blood" has enjoyed a reputation as the best of all the thrash metal albums among many rock critics. Like the others in the “Big Four,” they date back to the 80s and like them, despite many personnel changes, they are still going strong.
