American heavy metal group Mastodon is from Atlanta, Georgia, and formed in 2000. The band is considered one of the most acclaimed metal groups of the new millennium, with an innovative, lyrically astute blend of progressive metal, grindcore, punishing hardcore and metalcore, neo-psych, death metal, and more, sometimes in the span of a single song. Mastodon is composed of Troy Sanders (bass/vocals), Brent Hinds (lead guitar/vocals), Bill Kelliher (rhythm guitar/backing vocals), and Brann Dailor (drums/vocals).
