Born on October 9th, 1940, John Winston Lennon was a singer, songwriter from Liverpool England who co-founded the Beatles the most successful rock band in the history of popular music. He formed a much-celebrated songwriting partnership with fellow Beatle, bandmate Paul McCartney and along with George Harrison and Ringo Starr the Beatles would reach worldwide fame in the1960s. In 1969 he married Yoko Ono and in 1975 he left the music industry to raise his son Sean. In 1980 John Lennon and Yoko Ono released the album Double Fantasy and three weeks later at the age of 40 he was killed in the archway of his Manhatten apartment building. John will also be remembered for his peace activism.
