Frank Zappa was both inventive and prolific. He released 60 albums in a career that ended too soon when he was 52-years-old. From the time he founded the Mothers of Invention in 1966 and through his decades as a solo artist, his genre-hopping music defied easy categorization. Was he a jazz musician, modern classical composer, an R & B, or a rocker? He was all of them at the same time, as well as a first-rate satirist and a political activist who championed the first amendment before Congressional committees. He was especially loved in Europe, where the first post-communist president of Czechoslovakia, Vaclav Havel, appointed him a special ambassador. Zappa made a lasting impression on American and international culture. Zappa's awards, honors, and accomplishments is too long to list is this brief intro. But look him up. It's worth it.
