Formed in the UK in the late 70s, Duran Duran is one of the most successful and most memorable bands to come out of the new wave movement. Duran Duran was an underground darling in 1982 but found massive commercial success in 1984 off the back of massively popular singles like “Hungry Like the Wolf” and “Rio.” To separate themselves from other bands of the “New Romantic” school of rock, Duran Duran utilized their refined, elegant image to become a staple on MTV. The band found wild success over their decades-long career, including two Brit Awards, two Grammys, MTV’s Life Achievement Award, and even a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a feat not matched by many other musicians. With 14 studio albums, including their most recent Paper Gods in 2015, 21 Top 10 singles, and over 100 million albums sold, Duran Duran is one of the highest selling bands of all time.
