Def Leppard was one of the biggest bands to come from the British heavy metal scene of the 1980s. From the early 80s through the early 90s, Def Leppard was one of the most popular bands in the world. Their sophomore album, 1983’s Pyromania was very successful on the back of singles like “Photograph” and “Rock of Ages.” But the success of their follow up album, Hysteria in 1987, shattered the previous level of success they thought they had achieved. Hysteria sold over 25 million copies in the US overall, being declared 12 times platinum and spawned seven successful singles, including “Love Bites,” “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” and “Armageddon It.” Both Pyromania and Hysteria were certified diamond by the RIAA, making them one of only five rock bands to have two original studio albums to sell over 10 million copies in the United States. The group is finally being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
