A leading figure in the music industry and one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, David Bowie was one of the biggest rock stars of all time. Bowie’s career was marked by innovation and a knack for reinventing himself, including his massively influential “Ziggy Stardust” persona from the 70s. Across the many different versions of himself, Bowie always tended towards the dramatic. His albums were all marked with big concepts and impressive live shows, including costumes and personas for each. David Bowie was awarded 10 platinum records in the UK and five platinum in the USA, eleven No. 1 albums, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1996. Massively successful songs like “Space Oddity” and the Queen-collaborated “Under Pressure,” alongside acting roles in movies such as 1986’s Labyrinth and 2006’s The Prestige, turned Bowie into a star that transcended music alone and became a cultural icon. Bowie continued to record new music and tour, releasing his last album, Blackstar, just two days before his death in 2016.
