Culture Club was a New Wave band formed in London in 1981. The group achieved huge levels of success with their music, but frontman Boy George’s androgynous style of dress captured the attention of media and fans alike, significantly aiding in the band’s selling of more than 150 million albums worldwide. With hits such as “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” and “Karma Chameleon,” Culture Club combined British new wave with American soul and Jamaican reggae to produce a unique sound that captivated audiences in the 80s. The band continues to tour today, having amassed numerous awards and being heralded as a defining band of the 1980s.
