Coldplay is a British rock band formed in 1998 and a band that has defined rock music in the 2000s. Their debut single, “Yellow” in 2000, helped Coldplay to achieve worldwide fame before their first record was even released. The band continued to climb the ladder of success, with their second album, 2002’s A Rush of Blood to the Head being named NME’s album of the year and fourth album, 2008’s Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends reaching the level of best selling album of the year and racking up three Grammy awards. Coldplay is a certified cultural phenomenon with 107 awards to their name, including seven Grammys and nine Brit Awards. The band was given a fourth place on the Best Artists of the 2000s.
