Bullet for My Valentine originally started as a Metallica and Nirvana cover band before transitioning into original material. They may have changed the songs they were playing, but the distinct influence of classic metal bands like Metallica, Slayer, and Iron Maiden remained. Playing off of their name, the band’s debut studio album, The Poison, was released on Valentine’s Day in 2005. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold. Since then, all of their studio albums have debuted in the top 20 of the Billboard charts. Bullet for My Valentine has sold over 4,000,000 albums worldwide and have become one of the bigger bands in the modern day metal scene.
