Born out of Birmingham in 1968, Black Sabbath was an English band that pioneered the genre of metal music. Their first two albums, Black Sabbath and Paranoid, both released in 1970, defined the genre for decades to come. After forming as a blues-rock band, Black Sabbath shifted its focus to incorporate more drop-tuned guitars and horror-movie inspired lyrics. The group has seen numerous lineup changes, featuring a multitude of famous musicians including Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Dio. With 19 studio albums and six live albums, Black Sabbath is one of the biggest names in rock music history.
