John Lennon’s personal copy of Yesterday And Today featuring the original censored artwork.

John Lennon’s personal LP of "Yesterday And Today" has been sold, including almost 100 other pieces of Beatles music memorabilia by Heritage Auctions at their November 11th, 2017 auction.

The noteworthy copy, which belonged to John Lennon, was expected to be sold for at least $200,000, however, once the auction ended the album brought in $125,000 to an unknown bidder.

The rare vinyl record features the original “butcher cover” on the front with the Beatles dressed in white coats and bloody decapitated babies. The original cover was withdrawn shortly after the second day of sales. This copy also has original artwork by John Lennon on the back cover.

This super rare, near mint 8.5 Beatles "Ask Me Why" promotional sleeve sold for $15,000 at the same auction. This promo sleeve was issued with only a few promotional copies of the VeeJay EP containing the songs "Ask Me Why," "Anna," "Misery," and "A Taste of Honey." Only about eight examples are known to exist. An oddity in that the sleeve opens at the bottom. This copy is believed to be the only known NM copy of this extremely rare sleeve.
