A heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas? How American can you get? Beginning as glam rockers, Pantera soon developed a hard-core edge. Their album Cowboys From Hell seemed an apt name for the group that went from glam to groove metal and brought them to an audience less interested in spandex and more likely to wear blue jeans and rock t-shirts. The late Phil Anselmo once said: "We've survived every fucking trend-heavy metal, grunge metal, rap metal and we're still here. We put everyone on notice that we don't fuck around."
